What we are clear about not collecting
We do not collect location (GPS)
Distance is calculated from your step count. We do not record routes or places you stay. The app asks for two things: motion & fitness data, and notifications.
We do not store the email your gift card goes to
We read it from your account only when a gift card has to be sent, and keep it masked in our records.
Fraud checks do not use location
We look for impossible speeds and multiple accounts on one device. Not where you are.
You can delete your account from the app or the web
Deleting removes your Banana and your swap history. Account deletion
Questions people ask
Do you collect my location?
No. Distance is calculated from the step count your phone already records. There is no map and no route history.
Do I have to keep the app open?
No. Your phone records the steps; the app reads them when you open it.
How far do I have to walk before I can swap?
The smallest swap is a $5 Amazon.com gift card. Steps are not the only way to collect Banana — the mini-game and rock-paper-scissors count too.
Can I get cash?
No. Gift cards only. We do not offer bank transfers, PayPal or anything else that turns into cash.
How does the gift card reach me?
By email, to the address on your account. It can take a while after you request the swap.
What do I get for inviting someone?
When a friend enters your invite code and starts using the app, both of you receive Banana. There is a limit on how many people you can invite.
